Patti was born in New Jersey and has lived in Texas and Colorado before moving to Virginia in 2002. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Texas at Austin in 1980 and completed her Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesia training at the University of Texas Medical Center in Houston in 1985. She was the recipient of the Agatha Hodgkins Award for Outstanding Graduate Anesthetist. Patti has worked in a variety of anesthesia settings including the University of Virginia where she worked on staff and served as Clinical Coordinator for Nurse Anesthesia students. She is certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and is a member of the Malignant Hyperthermia Association.
